I'm a Buffy fan from the movie and then the television series. I originally started reading Buffy and Giles fan fiction, and then the pairing of Spike and Willow opened a realm of wonderful new stories to me. Since then Spike has become my total favourite character, and I was lucky enough to meet James Marsters and Emma Caulfield at a convention in 2001.
I'm not a Buffy and Spike reader, but their pairing on the show has been handled in such a way that it actually appeals to me. I just wish that all these girls would start treating Spike better! I don't see Spike as a sap, but he definitely has a lot of unrequited love going on.
With the start of Angel, I've also become a Angel and Cordelia fan, and a pairing of Wesley and Faith in an Angel and Cordelia fic got me interested in those two as well. I love those oddball 'ships ...
